Profile

Okey Egbuchu started his career as a litigator.  He practiced briefly as a federal prosecutor between 1992 and 1993 and thereafter as a civil, commercial, and maritime litigator in the then law firm of Ukpong & Omotoso (now CLP Legal) during which he appeared in all tears of the courts in Nigeria. He is a pioneer in Gas Pollution litigation in Nigeria. In Year 2001, he was elevated to partner, and appointed Managing Partner in April 2019.

Energetic and versatile, Okey Egbuchu expanded his expertise and advised many clients both Nigerian and multinationals on Project Finance, Capital Markets, Corporate Restructuring, Infrastructure and PPPs, Energy Law, Data Protection, Real Property, Tourism and Hospitality. He is also a registered insolvency practitioner.

  • He is a member of Council of the NBA Section on Business Law, the immediate past Chairman of its Travel Tourism and Hospitality Committee, a member of its Energy, Infrastructure, Banking and Finance Committees.

  • He was part of the team that produced the working papers from which the Persons with Disabilities Bill was developed and subsequently Persons with Disabilities Act was enacted.

  • He is a Fellow at the Centre for Public Service Productivity and Development (CeProd). He is a past member of Council of the NBA Section on Business Law, the second Chairman of its Travel Tourism and Hospitality Committee, a member of its Energy, Infrastructure, Banking and Finance Committees.

  • In Year 2018, he served as the Chairman of the Conference Planning Committee of the 12th Annual Business Law Conference of the NBA Section on Business Law which held at Transcorp Hilton, Abuja.
